How to take great portraits

Finding a model could be hard especially when you are a new photographer. When you find the model it could be a bit awkward trying to get them to pose for you. However in the end you can end with an amazing shot and hopefully get paid for it. Here are some tips on trying to loose that awkwardness.

Get to know your model

This will brake the ice and get the tension out of the way. Talking to them will let you know what they are comfortable with doing. It will also make you seem friendlier and they will listen to you better.

Keep talking to them to avoid the awkwardness

When you keep talking it'll make the model relaxed, but don't talk about yourself. Talk to them about themselves and tell them there doing great. When you want to tell them to pose, try showing them a picture of a pose and let them adjust it to there liking. Remember to listen to them and make sure they are comfortable with the pose.

Zoom in and adjust the shutter speed

Lighting changes on where you go unless you are in a studio. If you are outside, some places might be lighter then others. When you are ready to take the shot, don't be afraid to zoom in a bit. Also when your taking portraits you can ask the model to look away from the camera. This gives a more natural pose.
